J.K. Rowling’s address at Harvard focused on The Fringe Benefits of Failure and the Importance of Imagination.

Deep into the address she talks about how, after leaving university, she could be seen as a failure.

At the same time, however, she had some great assets. In addition to having some wonderful friends, she had:

A daughter she adored;

An old typewriter;

A big idea.

J.K. describes how building on our assets can help us to shape the future. She also explains how developing our imagination and empathy can contribute to us helping the human family.
