There are many ways to live life, but you only have so much energy. Bearing this in mind, one approach is to put your energy into doing positive things.
Looking at your own life, how do you use your energy in a positive way? How do you maybe sometimes use it in other ways? What can happen as a result of taking these different approaches?
Different people give different answers when describing how they use their energy to do positive things. Here are some they may mention.
They have a positive attitude … They are grateful and generous … They encourage other people …They focus on the positive things in life … They focus on positive solutions to challenges.
They walk, run, play music, dance or do other things that give them positive energy … They create positive environments in which people can grow … They use their skills to help other people to reach their goals.
People who take this approach often focus on the positive things they can control in situations. There may be occasions, however, when they focus on the negative things they can’t control.
How to manage such situations? One approach is to try to put yourself in positive environments and focus on things you can control. There may be times, however, when you go into a negative spiral. You can then aim:
To recognise the specific trigger – such as the experience, thought or other event – that triggered you going into the negative cycle;
To do something specific – such as to focus on what you can control or what gives you positive energy – and put yourself into a positive cycle.
To keep doing such things to build positive energy and – in the process – maybe do something that encourages yourself or other people.
Imagine that you want to put your energy into doing positive things. How can you follow this approach in your own way? What may be the benefits – both for yourself and other people – of taking these steps?
