There are many ways to live life. One approach is to be determined rather than to give in to people who want to depress you. Different people follow this approach in different ways. Some people are determined to:
To be grateful … To have a positive attitude … To enjoy life … To encourage other people … To do satisfying work … To do their best in life … To focus on positive things happening around the world.
Some people who live in authoritarian countries continue to encourage each other. They say that is important:
To have a caring heart, a clear head and a creative plan.
Some people choose to be caring when others may be cruel. Viktor Frankl described seeing this happen when he was in the Nazi concentration camps. Here is an excerpt from his book Man’s Search For Meaning.

Authoritarians try to depress others and make them feel impotent. They do this by being cruel and spreading hate. They also do even more outrageous things to get inside people’s heads. How to manage such situations?
One approach is to continue to have a positive attitude. It is then to do positive things and aim to get positive results. Sometimes the results may be small – such as simply helping a person – but they are planting seeds that give people practical hope.
Let’s return to your own life and work. Can you think of a situation where you may aim to be determined rather than give in to others who may try to depress you? How can you do this in your own way?
