The ‘What Do I Want To Give?’ Approach Rather Than The ‘Who Am I?’ Approach

Some individuals get to a point where they explore some of well-known questions regarding their purpose in life. These include the following:

‘Who am I? Why am I here? What do I want to do in my life?’

These are valid questions, but they can be hard to answer. Sometimes a person may find themselves going round in circles. Even if they answer these, they may then need to decide what to do with the information.

Some people take another approach. Such individuals often have a sense of perspective and see themselves as small in the great sweep of history. Bearing this in mind, they ask themselves:

‘What do I want to give to people?’

Different people explore this theme in different ways. Some focus on the positive things they want to give to people during their time on the planet. Here are some of the things that people mention.

The positive things I want to give to
people during my time on the planet are:

A loving home … Encouragement … Nourishing food … Positive experiences … Helping people to build on their strengths … Practical tools they can use to shape a positive future.

Imagine that you want to follow elements of this approach. If you wish, describe the positive things you want to give to people during your time on the planet. If possible, try to give some examples.

Here is the exercise on this theme. This invites you to complete the following sentence.
